Duties
As an AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-8602-10, you will plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work. Participate in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provide workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as the scheduling of projected work. Assign tasks to be performed. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Review work in progress or on completion. Make adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Note and investigate work related problems and independently implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operations controlled by other supervisors. Assure that equipment and materiel is available when needed. Coordinate work with other work units. Other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5-day workweek, then a 4-day workweek (eight 9-hour days and one 8-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80-hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Military Grades: E7 through E8
Compatible Military Assignments: All AFSC's must be able to obtain 2A590
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures, and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, must have experience demonstrating the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The incumbent is required to climb, stoop, stand, bend, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions and requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. Incumbent lifts equipment and components weighing from 20 to 50 pounds, and may be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance from other workers or weight handling equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works assignments are performed indoors and outdoors in inclement weather, on icy, wet, and slippery ramps, aircraft surfaces and work stands, and in temperature extremes. The incumbent is subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, high pressure air and fluids, fast actuating metal aircraft surfaces (landing gears, speed brakes, missile doors and flaps), engine noise, heat blast, intake suction, rotating propellers, explosive munitions, electrical voltage, cartridge actuating devices, liquid oxygen, fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, lubricants, paints and solvents.

The demotion would be "without prejudice" and will not preclude subsequent promotion under AFI 36-2502. The Date of Rank will be adjusted IAW AFI 36-2502.
