Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC T32, Position Description Number PDD1063000and is part of the AZ Army Aviation Support Facility 2, National Guard.

Duties

This position is located in Marana, Arizona with the AASF 2. The purpose of this position is to act as the Aircraft Mechanic (Crew Chief) with responsibility for managing the operational readiness of one or more aircraft, and proficiency training of supported aviation unit personnel. Responsibilities include detailed technical oversight of individual aircraft's level of mission capabilities and projection of maintenance requirements to maintain individual aircraft operational readiness.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment

  • ARIZONA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Army National Guard, in a military organization supported by the AASF 2.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver’s license.
  • This position is subject to rotating shifts.
  • Must possess a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Incumbent may be requires to travel in military aircraft and drive/operate military vehicles/equipment.
  • The incumbent may be required for NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status and qualified for Class III flying duties.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4/SPC/CPL to E-7/SFC

Compatible Military Assignments: possess 15T MOS

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to 36 months journey-level experience or training equivalent to or exceeding the WG-10 grade level, positions at this grade level may include performing duties as a dedicated crew chief. Other positions may include responsibility for performing, coordinating, and/or overseeing the work and any periodic inspections to be done on an aircraft whether it is alone, or with the assistance of other mechanics and/or workers. Some positions may include coordinating the work of other journey-level workers in other trades to work simultaneously on the aircraft. Other positions may include serving as the technical authority to advise on, examine, and approve all airframe, mechanical, electrical, and pneudraulic repairs of assigned aircraft.

Journeyman Level: - Experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.

1. Knowledge in such functions as troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, servicing, inspecting, and modifying aircraft, aircraft installed equipment and related ground support equipment.

2. Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and components in electrical, fuel, hydraulic, environmental and mechanical principles.

3. Knowledge of Aircraft Notebook (ACN) and other aircraft documentation accurately reflects status and airworthiness of assigned aircraft.

4. Ability to perform work in complex conditions under time and/or mission constraints to include all weather and night operations.

5. Ability to ensure proper work sequence planning and review, and a thorough understanding of technical orders, maintenance regulations and management operating procedures.
