In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C for he WG-8800, Aircraft Overhaul Family.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to lead or supervise as an Aircraft Overhaul Supervisor.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in safety standards, regulations, and technical orders. Extensive knowledge of Air Force TO Form documentation requirements. Knowledge and practical application of MIS (e.g. CAMS, GO-81) programs. Knowledge of assigned weapon systems including airframes, aircraft systems, and the interrelationships among systems and aircraft power plants, needed to make various operational checks and verify established performance limits.
- Knowledge of aircraft flying hour and maintenance planning cycles, documentation, and communication necessary to execute plans. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical orders, and to evaluate compliance, adequacy of repair actions, and proper installation of parts and modifications. Ability to manage personnel and equipment resources to effect flying and maintenance programs. Ability to assign work priorities to accomplish scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities. Ability to execute disaster control and emergency war order/contingency plans. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission.
- Skill in directing aircraft generation/evacuation processes. Skill in determining aircraft condition and advising supervision of workload changes.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement sound personnel management policies, practices, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and equal employment opportunity.
- Skill in using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and precision measuring and/or test equipment. Skill in troubleshooting, inspecting, and/or tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS PERTAINING TO THIS POSITION:
- This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies (UTA). The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally NTE 30 percent of total responsibilities.
- May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.
- This is a drug testing designated position (TDP). The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Moderate carrying (15-44 lbs). Hours of straight pulling are 1 hour per week. Hours of pushing is 1 hour per week. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 inches to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing (with or without aid).
