Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a ARTILLERY REPAIRER, Position Description Number D1224000 and is part of the PA Unit Training Equipment Site, National Guard.

Duties

As an ARTILLERY REPAIRER, WG-6605-10, you will perform maintenance on the electrical system of the turrets. Test and repair electrical test sets that are used to test the electrical systems of the tank turret. Repair the hydraulic system, which provides the pressure to elevate and traverse the gun and rotate the turret. Repair all mechanical parts involved in turret traversing, such as the traversing gearbox including the clutch assembly, and turret races including cupola bearings. Service the gun by exercising the recoil system to check for leaks in the seals. May also work on ITVs, howitzers, and other less complex equipment. Perform other duties as assigned.

This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

AOC 3: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard
AOC 4: All service members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (This includes M-Day Soldiers, Temporary Technicians and AGR Personnel)
AOC 5: Individuals who are currently serving in another branch of service who are willing to become members of the PANG

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system operations. Experience demonstrating the ability to fit and adjust parts and assemblies.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must indicate at least experience or training demonstrating a broad knowledge in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and major components of artillery systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining needed repairs in artillery systems. Experience demonstrating the ability to inspect artillery systems. Experience which demonstrates the ability to develop test standards. Experience interpreting and applying drawings, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and specifications.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.

SPECIAL NOTE: Per the Merit Promotion and Placement Plan (MPP) if there are more than 15 qualified applicants for each position, by category, a KSA board will be convened in accordance with Chapter 4 of the MPP.
