Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Education: The mandatory education program described below must have been approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (external link) (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (external link) (ASHA) at the time the degree was obtained.

Successful COMPLETION of a degree: For
Audiologist positions, a graduate or higher level graduate degree that
included 18 semester hours in the field of audiology with approved clinical practice. Applicants for positions with both speech pathologist and audiologist duties must have successfully completed all the requirements for
a graduate or higher level degree with
18 semester hours in one of the fields with approved clinical practice and, in addition, must have either completed a minor in the other field or must have had at least 1 year of professional experience in the other field.

AND
Licensure:
Must posses a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Speech/Language Pathology and/ or Audiology as applicable in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
(You must provide copy of licensure. Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible rating.)
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the
GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- Experience serving as an audiologist providing diagnostic audiology care and services.
- Experience (or the ability to acquire experience) providing hearing loss prevention consultation services, hearing protection fittings/consultations, and hearing conservation technician competency assessments.
- Experience (or the ability to acquire experience) providing data and reports regarding Hearing Conservation Program compliance, Significant Threshold Shift (STS) rates, and other program metrics.
- Experience (or the ability to acquire experience) performing administrative oversight of the Hearing Conservation Program to ensure quality care and services, accurate test protocols, and valid audiometric data collection.
- Experience (or the ability to acquire experience) utilizing the Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System - Hearing Conservation (DOEHRS-HC) data repository systems to perform quality analysis of hearing conservation data.
