Duties

FV-G Band Duties:

Performs a combination of routine and multiple and varying assignments under the general direction of the Manager of Engineering Services, implementing the office’s administrative programs, policies, and procedures. Tracks completion of action items, and tracks to ensure responses are replied to in a timely manner. Troubleshoots issues as they are identified and tracks them until resolution is obtained. Utilizes appropriate resources to coordinate the accomplishment of activities. Manages timeline of program activities to ensure established deadlines are met. Works with Training Coordinator(s) and management on tracking WSA Engineering Services New Manager Mentoring program. Supports Employee Development Manager and/or Lead Developmental Engineer in monitoring development of new hire employees for the Engineering Services Manager. Acts as an individual contributor and/or member of a team for projects/programs within a defined area of responsibility.

Applies experience and detailed knowledge applicable to his/her discipline to plan and accomplish assignments. Typical assignments may include collecting and analyzing data/information; conducting research; applying policies and procedures; identifying problems; and working with higher level and lower level professionals in day-to-day operations. This position is an integral part of the Engineering Services leadership team, involved in all management meetings and activities, and supporting the overall service area leadership. Organizes and schedules events, conferences and meetings; responsible for all logistics, agendas, minutes and action items. May also occasionally be required to greet visitors, manage the calendar for the Manager of Engineering Services, distribute mail, purchase and track office supplies, and act as property custodian.

Demonstrates some independence in planning time and using assigned resources to accomplish tasks or small projects.

Responsible for internal and external communications: newsletters, awards submissions, correspondences, congressional inquiries, Labor Relations documents, presentations to variety of audiences, etc. Consolidates and prepares information from the management team into a presentable format (examples: briefings, reports, spreadsheets, feedback, etc.). Coordinates with Line of Business (LOB) Director’s and Vice President’s (VP’s) office of administrative and communications staff on actions requiring executing involvement of Engineering Services. With direction from management, updates and standardizes Engineering Services Knowledgeable Services Network (KSN).

Partners with peers in other directorates and services areas to work on actions and standardize administrative support processes, external responses.

Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow some discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es). Typically receives guidance on selecting approaches from a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional.

FV-H Band Duties:

Incumbent performs all of the G Band duties, but at a higher level of independence. Tracks and assists with completion of action items, tracks grievances, and works with AJW-2 Executive Technical Representative (ETR) to ensure grievances are replied in a timely manner. Investigates and troubleshoots issues as they are identified and tracks them until resolution is obtained.

Duties could also include greeting visitors, controls Manager’s calendar, schedules appointments and meetings after consulting with Manager, distribution of mail, office supply inventory/purchase and property delegate duties.

Resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager, project/program manager, team leader, or more experienced professional. Refers to managers and professionals who are more experienced problems that require their attention.

Qualifications

FV-G: To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to FV-F (FG/GS 5-9).

Specialized experience:Experience compiling data and information for reporting; identifying problems and the ability to plan, organize, and complete multiple work assignments concurrently.

FV-H: To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G (FG/GS 10/11).

Specialized experience: Preparing and presenting/briefing to management, analyzing and providing recommendations to systems and/or processes to improve efficiency and the ability to plan, organize and complete multiple work assignments concurrently.

Education

Education substitution for FV-G Band: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR a combination of education and experience may be qualifying for this position. Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials or an accredited US educational institution in terms of equivalency to a degree acquired at an American college or university. A copy of the evaluation results must be included, otherwise your foreign education will not be considered.
