BASIC REQUIREMENT:Degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR Combination of education and experience: post high school education with courses equivalent to a major, which is defined as 24 semester/36 quarter hours, in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources management, chemistry or related disciplines appropriate to the position, PLUS appropriate experience or additional course work.
Selective Placement Factor: This position requires you to currently be able to communicate in Spanish (preferred minimum of a Speaking 3 and Reading 3 from a certified language proficiency test). Proficiency will be evaluated prior to selection, and officially tested prior to overseas assignment. Failure to have language proficiency will result in non-selection or your removal from consideration and/or the position.
FOR THE FP-02/GS-14 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the FP-03/GS-13 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Has planned, organized, and directed team studies and effectively interacted with management to develop, gain approval, accept, and implement recommendations where the proposals involved substantial agency resources and required extensive changes in established procedures.
- Directed the formulation and development of recommendations for complex operating policies for the handling of all functions assigned.
- Supervised direct reports and multidisciplinary teams, assigned tasks, monitored progress, and provided technical guidance to ensure program goals and project milestones were achieved on schedule.
- Implemented biological principles of pest management based on experience with biological sciences in order to develop theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods to provide expertise in strategic planning.
