About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Marathon Operations at Wright-Patt AFB. Serves as the senior leader responsible for the strategic direction, financial health, long-range growth, and overall performance of the Department of the Air Force's endurance events enterprise.

Duties
Serves as the senior leader responsible for the strategic direction, financial health, long-range growth, and overall performance of the Department of the Air Force's endurance events enterprise. Leads and directs the economic and efficient operation of the Air Force Marathon (AFM) and Space Force (SF) T-10 Miler flagship events. Provides administrative oversight, supervision, and management. Exercises direct supervision over the Air Force Marathon Race Director, Space Force Race Director, and all Functional Directors. Within established guidelines and objectives, develops activities to meet needs of participants while developing within parameters of funding, facility, equipment and staff support. Establishes performance goals, provides mentorship, and conducts annual appraisals to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of staff and on-going marathon activities; identifying how and where the program can be strengthened and improved. Identifies, evaluates, and develops new event opportunities to expand the DAF's endurance portfolio and strategically grow the enterprise. Exercises final budget oversight for the entire enterprise by ensuring development, management, and administration of all monthly, quarterly and annual APF and NAF budget requirements; monitors/explains variances and makes revisions as necessary. Ensures all donations and support received from sponsorship and applicants are handled in accordance with applicable guidelines. Reviews the coordination efforts and planning associated with all marathon activities. Ensures coordination for transportation requirements; security assistance; and other support operations to include telephone and radio communications, Audio/Visual, Medical Services, Engineering, Public Affairs, Protocol, Safety, and Legal support is complete, and all necessary functional requirements are prepared and in place for marathon events/activities. Coordinates and arranges with state and local law enforcement and transportation agencies to ensure all applicable government regulations are followed in obtaining and securing necessary permits from each jurisdiction for highway and local road closures for AF Marathon events, oversees coordination of equivalent requirements for Space Force Develops, administers, and negotiates contracts for the best quality and pricing of supplies, equipment and service contracts in support of the marathons, ensures procurement/contracting efforts are accomplished in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. Serves as the primary marathon publicity/public relations spokesperson. Oversees implementation of the Air Force and Space Force marathon marketing plans. Leads and supervises Air Force and Space Force marathon support staff in all capacities, ensuring functional teams are resourced and structured to provide effective matrixed support to both Race Directors for event-specific planning and execution. Plans and assigns work to subordinates, sets priorities; evaluates work performance; gives advice; counsels or instructs employees on both work and administrative matters. Interviews, recommends appointments, promotions or reassignments. Works to achieve the objectives of personnel programs and policies and deals effectively with employees on complaints, grievances, and other matters involved in the day-to-day administration of the program. Ensures proper training is conducted for key personnel. Identifies and arranges training needs; develops performance standards. Schedules travel opportunities to attend local, state, and national meetings, conferences, and seminars that pertain to running a marathon. Travels to marathons and special events to assess racecourse, setup, and flow. Irregular work hours may be required to represent the Air Force and Space Force Marathon during marathon and other related events. Serves as the primary liaison between the Marathon office and finance and contracting. Assists with volunteer staffing plans to ensure maximum number of volunteers is provided to support logistics and operations. Ensures Expo, Pre-, and Post-Race events are smoothly executed. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Progressively responsible supervisory experience to equip the incumbent with knowledge in the areas of advertising, budgeting, management, timekeeping, labor, staffing and other knowledge, skills and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business or Public Affairs may substitute for this experience. Knowledge of USA Track and Field long distance running rules and regulations preferred. Expertise in contract management, procurement, and price analysis strongly preferred. Ability to lead, supervise and direct personnel and make resourceful financial decisions. Knowledge of military protocol and procedures, purchasing and financial accounting methods preferred. Strong attention to details with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must possess the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision while acting in the best interest of the USAF. Willingness to travel and work various weekends and long hours. Proficient in word processing software. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the qualification above. Must be able to obtain a Government Motor Vehicle license. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a secret clearance. Employee is required to complete OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports, annually.
Education
