Duties

You will serve as an Aircraft Electrician and be responsible for performing Aircraft Electrician journey level duties, and training others in that trade or other trades.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Testing, troubleshooting, analyzing, modifying, and repairing complex electrical systems and components.
  • Assisting engineering personnel in developing modifications and changes on electrical, electronic, instrument, and other integrated electrical systems.
  • Manufacturing a variety of aircraft specific or specialized ''breakout boxes" and panels to facilitate testing of electrical systems.
  • Aligning, adjusting, and performing final calibrations on electrical systems, parallel generator units, and sets voltages in AC inverts, DC regulators and generators.
  • Installing non-conventional electrical power and related equipment by routing and connecting wiring to new or existing electrical or electronic systems, components, or equipment.
  • Using HAZMAT/Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) to identify hazards and properties of specific hazardous materials and wastes.
