Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer without more than normal supervision. Perform common Aircraft Mechanical Parts Repairer tasks. Disassemble some components, assemblies, and/or accessories when guidance is provided. Skill in following guidance to examine parts for damage and/or wear patterns to determine if they are reusable or need reworking. Skill in using some common hand tools, shop equipment and machinery (buffer, grinder, bead blasting machine, press), fixtures special tools, and test equipment. Work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Physical Effort: Requires long periods of standing, and/or sitting and reaching. Frequently handles items weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.
- Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lighted, ventilated shop area. Exposed to moving machinery, solvents, oil,and grease. Subject to noise from test stand operation. Required wearing safety glasses and shoes;also, gloves, respirators, and ear protection when appropriate. Working conditions considered in theevaluation of the work.
