Aircraft Structural Mechanic

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Aircraft Structural Mechanic to join our team at the Alaska Air National Guard. This crucial role involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the structural components of aircraft. Your expertise will ensure that aircraft operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections to determine necessary repairs using technical orders as guidelines.
  • Perform repairs, modifications, and installations of various aircraft parts and assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve structural repair issues in aircraft fuselage, tails, wings, cowlings, and stabilizers.
  • Align and balance component structures with precision instruments.
  • Fabricate, repair, and test metal tubing, conduits, cables, and other items following specifications.
  • Apply protective coatings, markings, and decals to prevent corrosion and enhance durability.
  • Operate various metalworking and testing equipment to create and repair aircraft components.
  • Train staff and maintain records in compliance with technical orders.
  • Identify and manage hazardous materials safely and according to directives.

Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 18 months of experience in aircraft structural repair, using advanced metalworking techniques and tools.
  • Proficient in interpreting and working from blueprints, diagrams, and technical orders.
  • Knowledgeable in corrosion testing and metal treatment procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the Alaska Air National Guard or eligible to join.
  • U.S. Citizenship and Secret Clearance required.
  • Military rank of Airman First Class (A1C/E3) to Technical Sergeant (TSgt/E6).
  • Subject to a background investigation and may need to complete a probationary period.
