This position has an individual occupational requirement (IOR). To be considered you must meet one of the requirements outlined in the "Education" section.
In addition to the IOR outlined in the "Education" section, in order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the qualification requirements - please be sure to include this information in your resume. No assumptions will be made about your experience.
To qualify for the GS-07: in addition to meeting the IOR outlined in the "education" section, applicants must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05. Examples of specialized experience may include participation in archeological surveys and site evaluation work; involvement in field research; compiling and/or preparing archeological site records and technical reports.

Successful completion of at least one year of graduate level education. This education must be directly related to the position being filled. You must include transcripts.
OR
Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.
To qualify for the GS-09 grade level, in addition to meeting the IOR outlined in the "education" section, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07. Examples of specialized experience may include: Assisting in conducting background studies and document reviews pertaining to archeological project development. Utilizing Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to record archeological site and features. Conducting routine field reconnaissance searches in areas planned for such activities as wildlife habitat improvement/road construction/recreational development concerning possible effects that proposed resource management activities may have on existing archeological remains. Conducting Section 106 inventory and monitoring projects. Prepare determination of effect for such projects identified during project inventories.

Successful completion of at least two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. This education must be directly related to the position being filled. You must include transcripts.

Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be combined with experience.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement.
Physical Demands: Field work routinely requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over rough, uneven, rocky surfaces or mountainous terrain; recurring bending, crouching, stooping or reaching; using hand tools such as shovels, trowels, or screening devices; and lifting of moderately heavy items such as equipment and samples.
Work Environment: The work regularly involves moderate risks or discomforts which may require special safety precautions, e.g., adverse weather conditions, hazardous driving conditions, irritating or occasionally hazardous chemicals; hostile wildlife; and travel in off-road vehicles. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
