Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated experience in planning and executing aquatic programs. This experience may have been gained managing indoor or outdoor aquatic programs and facilities. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level. An undergraduate or graduate degree in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology may be substituted for six (6) months of the required work experience.
2. Possesses and maintains the following certifications:
- Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS);
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association);
- Current certifications in Lifeguarding Instructor and Water Safety Instructor.
3. The following certification must be obtained within 6 months of appointment:
- Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification
Highly Desirable Qualifications
1. Familiar with Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
2. Possesses a Nationally Recognized Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.
3. Completion of MWR Sports and Fitness Administration Course.

Applicants meeting ALL criteria will be considered the best qualified, and will be referred to the selecting official first. Remaining applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection.
