Duties

  • Assists the Chief of Sports, Fitness and Aquatics in the supervision of the aquatic programs and acts as head lifeguard.
  • Responsible for managing daily seasonal operations including facility and lifeguard staff of Indoor Pool, Outdoor pool and lake swimming
  • Manage mission essential aquatics programming and recreational programming.
  • Ensure that facility is in safe operating condition and lifeguards have necessary training.
  • Interview and select such staff and onboard/train new staff.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one year probationary period may be required.

  • Attend Team Member Orientation within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be available to work days and evenings.
  • Position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • All required certifications must be kept current.
  • Incumbent may be subject to additional background checks, with periodic reverification.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and executing programs. This experience may have been gained managing indoor or outdoor aquatic programs and facilities. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next to lower grade level.
  • Current certification in Life guarding or Life guarding Instructor, First Aid, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent. NOTE: Certifications must be uploaded at the time of application.
The following certificates must be obtained within 12 months of appointment:
  • Water Safety Instructor
  • Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Pool Operator Certification
In addition, the following certificate must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty:
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Best Qualified:
  • At least 36 months of lifeguarding experience.
  • At least twelve (12) months lifeguarding experience at DFMWR Facility or similar Garrison activity.
  • At least twelve (12) months of work experience as Lead and/or Supervisor.
  • Experience with Army Community Recreation Reports Online System, RecTrac, Outlook/Excel/Word.
  • Possess the following: current Water Safety Instructor certificate and current AED certificate.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
