NOTE: The Assistant Director for Administration position is designated as SES General and may be filled by either a Career or Noncareer Senior Executive Service member.
The Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) seeks highly-qualified individuals to join our team of expert professionals in becoming a part of our challenging and rewarding Agency. The primary mission of the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) is to adjudicate immigration cases by fairly, expeditiously, and uniformly interpreting and administering the Nation's immigration laws. Under delegated authority from the Attorney General, EOIR conducts immigration court proceedings, appellate reviews, and administrative hearings. EOIR consists of three adjudicatory components: The Office of the Chief Immigration Judge, which is responsible for managing the Immigration Courts where Immigration Judges adjudicate individual cases; the Board of Immigration Appeals, which primarily conducts appellate reviews of these Immigration Judge decisions; and the Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer, which adjudicates immigration-related employment cases.
This position is located in the Office of Administration, Executive Office for Immigration Review, U.S. Department of Justice. Incumbent serves as the Assistant Director for Administration. The Assistant Director for Administration directs the operations of agency-wide management/mission support functions. The incumbent leads, develops, and implements programs to ensure the integration of financial management and budget, acquisitions and procurement; human capital resources, administration and management of real property; and security.
Typical work assignments will include:
- Serving as a senior official in the coordination of operations between divisions and regions to ensure rapid and effective response and reporting of human, fiscal and administrative resources.
- Developing strategies for managing consistent and integrated administrative and financial programs to meet statutory and regulatory goals within an efficient and effective work environment.
- Serving as a key Advisor to the Office of the Director, in the planning, management, and directional support related to EOIR programmatic and operational decisions.
- Facilitating communications and providing authoritative information, analyses, and policy and program recommendations.
- Directing administrative support systems and supervising an interdisciplinary team which provides proactive, time-sensitive services to EOIR components.
- Assessing program operations and oversees the development of policies and implementing guidance.
- Providing executive level direction to program heads in planning long- and short- range program activities and program evaluations to enhance agency/department missions and to maximize staffing, budget, security and other administrative resources.
