Duties
If you have experience in Assistive Technology (AT) hardware and software, Section 508 IT accessibility accommodations, and love to solve problems with unique solutions that help People with Disabilities (PWD), working in NSA's Office of Reasonable Accommodations and Accessibility (ORAA) may be the place for you.
Our AT Engineers tackle a wide variety of unique challenges that enable NSA's employees and applicants with disabilities to work our mission areas with full accessibility. Be part of a forward leaning team that makes technology work for all regardless of tools, devices, or systems.
As an AT Engineer you will:
- Engage with technical teams to maintain health and accountability of AT systems and equipment.
- Collaborate with disabled employees and applicants, as well as IT and Security colleagues, to implement cutting edge technology within a complex secure system.
- Work to make business and mission applications accessible for uses of all abilities.
- Collaborate with Reasonable Accommodations Managers (RAMs) to assess and help implement a variety of reasonable accommodation requests involving Assistive Technology and other specialized equipment and software.

Qualifications

FULL PERFORMANCE
Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience. Degree must be in Computer Science, or a related STEM technical field.
Relevant experience must be in the design and engineering of assistive technology. Some experience may be in an area of employment of people with disabilities (e.g., group home and school system).
SENIOR
Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree plus 3 years of relevant experience. Degree must be in Computer Science, or a related STEM technical field.
Relevant experience must be in the design and engineering of assistive technology and in an area of employment of people with disabilities (e.g., group home and school system).
