In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications below, you must also possess one of the following to satisfy the Individual Occupational Requirement for the GS-0511 job series:
- Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting OR
- Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following: A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.
You qualify for the
GS-11 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience at the
GS-9 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Using a variety of audit procedures, statistical techniques, and data analyses to assemble and develop findings; and
- Reviewing an organization's financial records as a part of an audit to ensure compliance and to identify effectiveness of financial management practices. OR
Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a LL.M., if related. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and activities necessary to do the work.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.
You qualify for the
GS-12 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the
GS-11 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Plans, performs and advises on a variety of external audit assignments relating to financial and/or worksite enforcement audits of suspected criminal organizations and businesses for the purpose of substantiating compliance with laws and regulations;
- Conducts Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) audits, maintains evidence utilized for administrative fines, prepares audit reports and associated administrative fine paperwork;
- Serve search warrants, provide technical assistance and analysis during investigations, including participating in on-site reviews of financial documents and/or employment documents;
- Provide support to offices by working directly with Auditors and others in financial investigations and/or identifying unauthorized workers in both critical and non-critical sectors during administrative and criminal worksite investigations; and
- Produce reports of investigation detailing all of the findings and actions, to include; factual reports that identify noncompliance with laws and regulations, inefficient operations and improper practices. Adheres to controls to ensure integrity of the audit profession.
You qualify for the
GS-13 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the
GS-12 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as:
- Plans, performs and advises on a variety of external audit assignments relating to financial and/or worksite enforcement audits of suspected criminal organizations and businesses for the purpose of substantiating compliance with laws and regulations;
- Conducts systematic examinations of records associated with financial and/or worksite enforcement investigations, ranging from personal accounting records to large multi-national corporations; and
- Conducts Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) audits, maintains evidence utilized for administrative fines, prepares audit reports and associated administrative fine paperwork.
