Summary

This position is located at Deputy AIG, Office of Audit/Fair Housing, Healthcare Programs, and HUD Mission Support Ops. As an Auditor (Performance) (Field Auditor), you will conduct internal and/or external performance reviews and audits of HUD programs administered by HUD and external program participants.

Duties

As an Auditor (Performance) (Field Auditor), you will:
- Develop specific audit plans and milestones for completing the review.
- Lead the efforts of one or more auditors in research, fact-finding, interviewing, analysis, and formulation of findings and recommendations. Gather and analyze documentation to identify common findings and trends.
- Gather data relevant to the audit, compare observed results, and develop work papers that are organized, indexed and cross-referenced to evidential matter relevant to the audit. Conduct interviews with the audited entity, take notes, and prepare written narratives of results of audit discussions with auditees. Review and approve findings and recommendations identified by team members and prepare the results for presentation to management.
- Persuade others to accept recommendations, cooperate, or change their behavior to improve program operations.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
- Using a computer and appropriate software to gather and analyze data, prepare presentations, and prepare audit work papers; AND
- Conducting opening and exit conferences to present findings and recommendations; AND
- Documenting results in audit reports with appropriate summaries, conclusions and recommendations; AND
- Isolating and identifying conditions affecting financial management, susceptibility to fraud, and the potential for increased efficiency.

Education

Degree: auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting.
or
Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:
- A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
- Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
