Duties
- Duties are performed independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides.
- Identifies improperly functioning parts for repair or replacement using on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment.
- Knowledge of the various techniques for removing, replacing, cleaning and installing parts and components.
- Skill to make adjustments and settings and in the operation of tools and equipment used.
- Understanding of diagnostic and test equipment; the make-up and operation of systems and their interrelationship.

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2. to include a physical exam.
- Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally-controlled facilities.
- Hours may vary and will typically occur between 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Stands and works in uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Frequently lift, handle, and carry parts and equipment weighing up to 18 kilograms (40 pounds).
- Occasionally, move moderately heavy items with assistance or with mechanical devices, including objects weighing up to or over 23 kilograms (50 pounds).
- Work areas are dirty, oily and greasy. Constantly exposed to cuts, bruises and vehicle fluids which may cause burns or irritate the skin.
Qualifications
1. Be able to lift and carry weights up to 40 pounds (occasionally, move object over 50 pounds with assistance or with mechanical devices).
2. Possess a. valid motor vehicle operators permit.
3. Have work experience performing the identified duties.
4. Be able to work independently.
Highly Preferred Criteria:
Possess state inspection and emissions certificates.
