This position is located at Surrey Car Care within the Fort Eisenhower Recreation Division.

Duties

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions/failures and performs required adjustments/repairs using a variety of test equipment, such as tech, dwell, timing light, oscilloscopes, air conditioning, and diagnostic unit.
  • Installs, replaces or repairs items involving moderate complexity within the following systems: ignitions, charging, exhaust, brakes, air conditioning, front suspension, emission control, fuel, starting, and drive train assembly.
  • Adjusts settings, according to manufacturer's specifications for ignition point and timing, voltage regulator, points, gapping spark plugs, engine idle and carburetor air/fuel mixtures, etc.
  • May assist in performing major repairs to engines, transmissions, differentials, and suspensions, and may give safety instruction classes to patrons.
  • May operate patron/NAF activity motor vehicles for the purpose of road testing or moving the vehicle in or out of the work area.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
