BASIC REQUIREMENT:
Education:
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other fields related to the position.
OR
Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience that demonstrated a knowledge of the transportation function(s) of the position to be filled.
In addition to the basic requirement above, applicants must also meet the following:
FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Experience in analyzing and monitoring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity, and making significant decisions in relation to a national aviation safety and training program.
- Building and maintaining effective national partners including diverse internal and external entities that can be effective advocates for aviation safety, training, and low-level aviation operations for wildlife damage management operations.
- Interpreting laws, regulations, legal precedents, and regulatory processes affecting public and commercial aviation activities. Example (Interpreting and seeking appropriate exemption from such regulations as needed.)
- Managing the maintenance and modification of general aviation and transport aircraft to evaluate aircraft for agency use, comparing aircraft performance with wildlife damage management mission requirements.
Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
