Duties

Plans, coordinates, and executes administrative and business operations supporting the academic mission, including scheduling, correspondence, staff actions, and long-range administrative requirements.
Coordinates CONUS/OCONUS travel and uses the Defense Travel System (DTS) to prepare travel orders, reservations, itineraries, and travel claims/vouchers in accordance with applicable regulations.
Administers records management requirements for assigned organizations, including paper/electronic files, vital records, declassification and document security reviews, annual updates, and archives.
Coordinates civilian personnel actions, in/out-processing, evaluations, JTD actions, and civilian time and attendance; prepares and tracks actions for leadership review and approval.
Supports special events, distinguished visitors, and guest speakers; assists with supply requisitions/orders and maintains Property Book records for assigned equipment in accordance with University directives.

Qualifications

You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp.

Specialized experience is defined as:

For the GS-9: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS-7. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume.Specialized experience includes: Performing administrative and business support functions such as coordinating office operations and schedules; preparing, reviewing, and routing correspondence and staff actions; supporting personnel, travel, records, events, supply/property, and time-and-attendance activities; applying administrative policies and procedures; and gathering and analyzing information to resolve administrative problems and improve office processes.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: For the GS-9: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.

Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.

You must submit a copy of your DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty", showing the dates of active duty service, type of discharge and the character of service. Alternatively, If you are a current military member in active duty service and do not have a copy of your DD-214, you must submit a written documentation (certification) from your branch of service certifying that you are expected to be discharged or released from active duty under honorable conditions no later than 120 days after the date of application. Next steps
