Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-11/22/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Resume - Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the number of hours worked per week, full-time, or part-time. If you indicate part-time, you MUST indicate the number of hours worked per week so that your qualifying experience can be prorated for credit.
To qualify for this position at the GS-04 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
EXPERIENCE: At least six months of general experience, and six months of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-3 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors), for a total of one year of experience. General Experience is (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation such as assisting in the preparation of reports, utilizing computer programs to store and retrieve data, and providing information to others. Specialized Experience is experience such as working in a nursery that required the growing and maintenance of plants in a controlled environment; working in an environment comparable to a large farm where production records, animal environment, and sanitary conditions were kept in accordance with modern industry practice; taking and recording scientific measures; or assisting with research activities or field investigations related to the biological sciences. (I understand that excess Specialized Experience can substitute for General Experience; but excess General Experience cannot be substituted for required Specialized Experience). EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two years of education above high school (60 semester hour or 90 quarter hours) which included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as in biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics; at least 6 semester hours must be directly related to the position. (You must include a copy of your transcripts, and the number of hours worked per week within your resume.)

An equivalent combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, first take the number of semester hours, and divide by 60. Take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12. Add the two percentages. The total must equal at least 100 percent. For example: I have 6 months of the general experience described above (50% of the experience requirement), plus 30 semester hours of undergraduate level work (50% of the education requirement) - which includes: at least 6 semester hours (50% of the courses as described above); of which, at least 3 semester hours of study must be directly related to the position (50% of the directly related study as described above). (You must include a copy of your transcripts, and the number of hours worked per week within your resume.)
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
