EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing research and monitoring activities for wildlife resources (specifically vertebrates); safely capturing and banding/tagging wildlife; safely traveling and orienteering in wilderness settings; and accurately collecting and recording biological data in a field setting.

EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study, or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses, such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. At least 6 semester hours of courses must have been directly related to the position to be filled.

combination of specialized experience and education as described above. In combining education with specialized experience for the GS-05 requirements, only education beyond the second year of college study (i.e., that completed beyond the first 60 semester hours) counts towards the specialized experience required. For this substitution at GS-05, one academic year (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours) of junior/senior level undergraduate education which includes a percentage of directly-related coursework as specified above is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: performing research and monitoring activities for wildlife resources (specifically vertebrates); safely capturing and banding/tagging wildlife; safely traveling and orienteering in wilderness settings; retrieving, analyzing and reporting biological data for reports; and operating and maintaining resource management equipment in the field.
