All U.S. Citizens--DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled through the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Government-Wide Direct-Hire Authority for this occupation and is open to all U.S. Citizens. Duties

THIS IS A TERM APPOINTMENT NOT TO EXCEED THREE YEARS. THE APPOINTMENT MAY BE EXTENDED AN ADDITIONAL YEAR BUT THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED.

This position is located within the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Office of Environmental Programs. This is a virtual position.

At the full performance level (GS-13) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Prepare, review, and coordinate environmental and policy documents concerning potential impacts from Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) activities.
  2. Evaluate environmental and/or human-interest issues and conduct analyses that integrate state-of-the-art methods, scientific information, legal requirements, and BOEM policies.
  3. Help develop and implement new procedures to improve environmental analyses.
  4. Recommend and assist in the planning and management of research necessary to adequately assess impacts from the use of OCS activities.
  5. Support inter-agency coordination and environmental consultation required under various environmental laws and regulations.
  6. Represent the Bureau or Department concerning related to environmental assessment or environmental issues.
Salary Information--- Salary listed below represents the base pay for the United States. If selected, your salary will be set for the location in which you reside.

GS-11, Step 1: $63,163.00 to GS-11, Step 10: $82,108.00 per annum.

First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Basic Educational Requirements AND (2) Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying.

(1) Basic Educational Requirements:
In addition to the specialized experience requirements for this position, applicants must meet the Education Requirements described below:

A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

-OR-

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

SUBMISSION OF TRANSCRIPTS IS REQUIRED TO VERIFY ALL EDUCATION.

(2) Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GS-11, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1. Interpreting environmental laws, regulations or policies to improve or support environmental assessments; AND
2. Training and/or experience assessing the interrelationships of human activities and the environment; AND
3. Preparing or supporting the preparation of documents related to environmental issues and delivering professional presentations related to those issues.
