You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Boiler Plant Operator Supervisor (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision to include planning and/or coordinating and/or directing a variety of boiler plant operations and/or functions. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: The incumbent is not subject to sustained physical effort. Occasionally, the incumbent works in awkward and cramped positions when making minor repairs. Frequent standing, walking and climbing is required while checking the equipment.
Working Conditions: The incumbent is exposed to the normal temperatures, dust gases, danger of burns from hot pipes and equipment, conditions normally occurring in power plants. Subject to heights when taking soundings of the fuel oil storage tanks. Exposed to conditions present while working near moving machinery and high voltage electrical equipment. May be exposed to acid and alkali chemicals used in feed water treatment. Will work in confined spaces in awkward positions in dirty, greasy areas. Must be able to lift heavy objects and climb ladders. Subject to continuous noise.
