Summary

This position will be assigned to the Skylark Bowling Center located on JBSA Lackland.

This is a Regular Part-Time position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, but may work up to 40 hours per week. Employees appointed to a Regular category position are eligible for benefits.


Physical Effort: Frequently lifts and carries parts and assembles weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally may push or pull assemblies weighing up to 100 pounds.

Duties

The function of this activity is to provide a recreational facility for base personnel and their dependents. The purpose of
this position is to perform leadership duties in the bowling equipment repair and maintenance section as well as
performing regular non-supervisory duties assigned to the section.

Serves as work leader for regular full-time Bowling Equipment Repairers and Laborers (Bowling Facility
Maintenance), preparing daily work schedules for the repair of bowling equipment as well as performing preventative
maintenance on electronic and mechanical equipment. Gets the work started and sets the work pace. Relays work -
related instructions received from the supervisor to section employees particularly those working at nights and weekends.
Performs on-the-job training for new employees by providing instructions on installing, adjusting, and repairing
automatic pinsetters, ball returns, automatic scorer, foul units, ball cleaning machines and lane maintenance machines.
Ensures that materials and tools are available at all times to perform repairs as well as maintaining adequate stock of
replacement parts. Reports directly to the supervisor on work progress as well as initiating performance evaluations for
employees in the section. Ensures that safety practices are observed during repairs particularly related to electrical
equipment. Provides the supervisor with projected financial expenditures for tools and equipment.

Installs, adjusts, repairs, overhauls and regularly inspects bowling facility electrical, electronic, and mechanical
equipment to include automatic pinsetter, automatic ball return, automatic score and foul units, ball cleaners, hole
borers, and lane maintenance machines. Diagnoses malfunctioning equipment referring to manuals for diagrams and
specifications. Follows manufacturer's maintenance schedules but makes changes as necessary. Disassembles and
replaces or repairs mechanical and electrical components or parts using soldering irons, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers,
and other hand tools. Cleans and lubricate machines. Measures and regulates sweep of rakes on automatic pinsetters
using hand tools and gauges. Runs automatic pinsetter through complete cycle and inspects for pin setting accuracy.
Performs other mechanical and electrical work of bowling facility as time and capabilities permit. Performs other duties
as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
Applicant must have experience in the maintenance and repair or bowling equipment which provides a thorough knowledge of the mechanical and electrical principles and operating characteristics of bowling equipment and standard test equipment, and the ability to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and manufacturer's service manuals.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Ability to lead three or more workers to accomplish the work and have the ability to perform regular nonsupervisory duties that is usually the same kind and level as that done by the group.
2. Ability to repair or replace all worn or broken parts on the Brunswick A2 pinsetter in a timely manner.
