Duties
- Manages a Food Service Program within a business activity. Develops, recommends and enforces operating procedures. Plans and manages all phases of food service program where dining and catering are a substantial basis of the food operation.
- Prepares/supervises the preparation of menus involving both standard and new cooking methods. Conducts customer surveys, reviews usage/sales to make recommendations concerning services, promotion activities and revenue improvements.
- Represents the activity to the public. Develops operating budget and data, identifying labor, equipment, and supply costs. Controls food pricing and costs. Oversees food ordering, storage and issues.
- Directs subordinates in food preparation and sanitation requirements. Participates in the selection of employees, directs on-the-job-training of new employees, makes duty assignments. Supervises assigned staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment

- Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
- Ability to obtain (within three (3) months of appointment) and maintain a certificate for sanitation in food service.
- Ability to obtain (within first six (6) months of employment) and maintain a Food Protection Manager Certification- American National Standards Institute accredited agency (i.e., ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Program).
- Incumbent must be willing and able to work days, evenings, occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Work experience OR two (2) years education directly related to the duties to be performed.
- Knowledge of pricing methods and internal controls.
- Demonstrated work experience must be equivalent in complexity and difficulty to the next lower pay level.
- Possess a certificate for sanitation in food service OR have the ability to obtain the certificate within three (3) months of appointment.
