Join Our Team as a Butcher Assistant

We are seeking a motivated Butcher Assistant to join our team at a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. As a Butcher Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting experienced meatcutters in transforming beef, pork, veal, and lamb into retail-ready cuts for our valued patrons.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist skilled meatcutters with basic meat processing tasks.
• Tray, wrap, weigh, and price various cuts using both manual and automated equipment.
• Ensure accurate pricing by consulting product price lists.
• Replenish and organize meat displays while ensuring product freshness and quality.
• Care for and upkeep hand tools and power equipment.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment at all times.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen, with proof of citizenship required if selected.
• Meet minimum age requirements, which are generally 18 years.
• Capable of passing identity and employment eligibility verifications and background checks.
• Physical ability to stand and walk continuously, and frequently lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a retail meat department with skills in traying, wrapping, and weighing meat.
• Knowledge of using and maintaining various meat cutting tools and equipment.
• Hands-on experience with meatcutting practices and procedures.
