Duties
As a COMPUTER SCIENTIST (ENTERPRISE DATA ARCHITECTURE) at the GS-1550-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Serves as a technical expert, advisor and authority for the management, modernization, and standardization of enterprise data architecture at DTRA. Advises higher-level leadership on critical data management issues, including strategic, security, mission/business, data/information, application, and infrastructure aspects of data architecture.
- Designs, develops, and maintains data architectures that support the Agency's operational and analytical needs, with particular emphasis on enabling robust, scalable, and secure data ecosystems.
- Collaborates with and supports the Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to identify and address the Agency's requirements for quality data to support enterprise-level information systems and capabilities.
- Leads semantic modeling and ontology design initiatives to establish a unified conceptual framework and common data vocabulary across the enterprise, enabling seamless interoperability between disparate legacy systems and modern IT platforms.
- Designs the structural frameworks, metadata schemas, and integration standards for enterprise data catalogs, mapping complex data flows and disparate data sources to ensure alignment with the target enterprise architecture.
- Reviews new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with IT standards, policies, and architectural plans. Establishes necessary target and interim state data architectures to provide incremental business value as the architecture transforms and modernizes.
- Monitors digital transformation initiatives in other Federal and DoD agencies to identify strategic trends in data architecture that could influence DTRA.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
- Developing the optimal means in which enterprise data architectures should be designed and implemented to maximize system performance, data interoperability, and data security.
- Leading the management of, and maintaining, an enterprise data architecture in alignment with U.S. Government, or International Partner's ecosystems (e.g., War Data Platform-WDP, Command and Control of the Information Environment) as directed to support an Agency's mission.
- Consulting with customers and key stakeholders to evaluate functional requirements for enterprise applications, translating complex business needs into scalable data architectures.
- Designing the structural frameworks, metadata schemas, and integration standards for enterprise data catalogs, mapping complex data flows and disparate data sources to ensure alignment with the target enterprise architecture.
- Reviewing new and existing program/project architecture for compliance with IT standards, policies, and architectural plans; establishing necessary target and interim state data architectures to provide incremental business value as the architecture transforms and modernizes.
- Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends, continuously enhancing data architecture to drive innovation and improvement.

In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 1550, series as listed below:
- Basic Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
- Evaluation of Education: Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
