Duties

MAJOR DUTIES: 
Provides technical support to customers who need assistance utilizing client level hardware and software in accordance with established or approved organizational process components. (i.e.,Master Incident Management Plan)

Performs a variety of direct user support tasks such as installing computer hardware and communication devices and software programs on new or ready for use computer equipment to ensure system is functional and meets end-user¿s requirements.  Performs system and application software upgrades.  Participates with supervisor to diagnose and correct errors in logic and coding and to ensure prescribed systems standards and procedures are used.  Documents maintenance of network.  Reviews directives pertaining to assigned information system. Assists supervisor in updating internal data collection process.

Assists supervisor in application reviews of MCCS operations, including field assessment studies on ADP issues directed by Personal and Family Readiness Division.  On assigned portions of projects, conducts preliminary analysis and assembles data for use in recommending modifications to ensure responsive product results.  Assists in implementing system security measures to safeguard information in system files against accident or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.

Performs first echelon assistance to end-users requiring ADP assistance in resolving difficulties through on-site troubleshooting (i.e., personal skills/experience, diagnostics of utilities applications, hardware modification, repair etc.).  Trains end-users on newly installed software programs with responsibility for establishing training schedule, disseminating training information to activity coordinators, training, and other ADP counterparts.  Assists with network related requirements, specifications, and implementation to include basic network operations/installation/set-up, and troubleshooting.  Installs and tests network software and hardware on server to ensure system is functional and meets end-user¿s performance requirements.  Monitors operability of network resources (file service, print service, e-mail, bridges, etc.).

This position has been designated as a Cyberspace Workforce position in the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF) work role as identified above and, as a condition of employment, the incumbent of the position is required to obtain and maintain qualification in accordance with DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Management Program, February 15, 2023 and supporting Department of Navy policies.

This designation requires the incumbent to: 1. Obtain the foundational qualification within nine months and the residential qualification within 12 months of appointment and maintain those credentials as described in DoDM 8140.03 for DCWF work role(s) and proficiency level(s) as documented on this coding sheet. For more information, please review DoDM 8140.03 and supporting DON policies.

Participate in continuous professional development program as described in DoDM 8140.03. An annual 20 hour minimum of Cyber Workforce related continuous professional development must be documented and completed in a current individual development plan signed by both the employee and supervisor. Continuous professional development begins in the fiscal year after the employee has obtained both foundational and residential qualification requirements.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

A minimum of three years progressive technical experience which demonstrates working knowledge of PC, mini-digital, and/or LAN operating systems; broad knowledge of data sources, data flow, and system interactions; knowledge of established hardware and software testing methods, and experience with various types of wiring and connectivity standards.  Ability to communicate orally and in writing.  This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

Due to the nature of work in this position, the incumbent may serve in an ¿on call¿ duty status outside of normal work hours that includes:  remaining in a reasonable call back radius, carrying a cell phone or pager, or regularly checking email to respond to emergencies; remaining in a state of readiness to perform work with limitations on pursuing outside leisure activities, and/or reporting to a designated post of duty to be ready to or to perform work.
