Summary

This position is located at the Child Development Center on Malmstrom AFB .

This position is regular full time and eligible for benefits; this would include Health, Dental, 401K, Life Insurance and Retirement.

Must be physically able to frequently lit objects weighing up to 40 pounds. All applicants MUST possess a current state driver's license. This is a Drug Tested Designated Position.

Duties

  • Exercises complete supervision over the Child Development Center and Youth Center food operation with guidance, if needed, from the CDC director.
  • Prepares work schedules and ensures employees are receiving required training as per AF instructions.
  • Maintains performance standards, motivates employees and maintains discipline. Maintains employee time and attendance records.
  • Interviews and selects applicants, approves and schedules leave, evaluates subordinate employees' performance; reports to high level management grievance concerns and disciplinary problems.
  • Supervises food storage and control procedures. Selects and purchases expendable and non-expendable food and supplies for the CDC & Youth Center food operation.
  • Maintains NAF IMPACT CARD and PCARD for purchases from approved venders and Prime Vendor for all kitchen food and supplies.
  • Ensures annual food budget is followed and all purchases are documented according to regulations.
  • Receives food and supplies and performs daily and monthly inventories at the CDC & Youth Program. Maintains USDA food records.
  • Attends annual training as required.
  • Ensures meals and snacks are prepared and served according to Military and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines.
  • Plans and executes 5 week Military standardized menus that reflect the developmental abilities of the age of the children served at the CDC and Youth Program.
  • Ensures children with special needs have meals/snacks that follow the USDA & CACFP guidelines with substitutions made with items on hand in the CDC kitchen.
  • Supervises preparation of meals and snacks which may require coordinating the cooking of several items with different cooking times and characteristics.
  • Plans the cooking process to produce complete meals on time, at the proper temperature, and ensures timely delivery of food to classrooms.
  • Ensures cleanliness and safety of the kitchen so it meets base public health, safety, and fire requirements.
  • Performs duties which include, but not limited to: roasts, broils, bakes, fries, boils, steams, stews meat, fish, and poultry. Prepares soups, stocks, broths, gravies, sauces and puddings without use of packaged mixes.
  • Adjusts standardized recipes for number of servings, performs yield testing; prepares gold food platters such as ham, turkey, roast beef. Mixes and prepares cold sauces, meat glazes, salad dressings. Prepares breakfast bread, pancakes, French toast, muffins. Prepares fresh or canned fruits and vegetables.
  • Operates a GOV to pick up &/or deliver food items and supplies.
  • Maintains monthly log and ensures vehicle is serviced as needed. Maintains kitchen equipment and monthly cleaning.
  • Performs other duties as related.

Qualifying Experience:
  • Supervisory experience desirable, but experience obtained as a cook leader is an acceptable substitute, and the experience must have been gained in a restaurant, club, cafeteria, or similar establishment.
  • Must have experience in and knowledge of food preparation principles and characteristics of food, and of planning processes to ensure entire meals are prepared and cooked on time.
  • Knowledge of the procedures to order, issue and store food.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
