Conditions of employment
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- This position has been identified as having regular contact with children under the age of 18. In accordance with Section 231 of the Crime Control Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-647 codified at 34 U.S.C. § 20351) and DoD Instruction 1402.05
- Favorably adjudicated background checks are required.
- Position is subject to immunization requirements as a condition of employment for working with children and youth.
- Employee is required to obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases in accordance with recommendations from the Advisory committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), which includes the influenza vaccine.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical and subsequent physicals, thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease.
- Must complete all DoD and Service training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial, and annual ongoing training requirements, and any required certifications.
- Must maintain current CPR, First Aid, and Food Handlers certifications.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- The incumbent is required to have mobility necessary to ensure safety of children and youth and engage in repetitive actions such as walking, standing, bending, stooping, and sitting on the floor.
- The incumbent must have the visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children and youth, to comply with sight and sound supervision requirements and to provide immediate responses when applicable.
- Tour of duty may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Majority of the work is performed in the CYS facility, including classroom settings, activity areas, and outdoor areas, with occasional indoor and outdoor field trips.
Qualifications
Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.
A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Education: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in child development, early childhood education, elementary or secondary education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position.
- For positions in Youth Facilities: The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, secondary education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science.
OR one of the following:
Combination of education and experience as stated below in Option 1 & 2:
Option 1: A combination of education and experience.
Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field (see above), plus appropriate experience.
Experience:Candidate must also possess all of the following:
- 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth as well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principals of child growth/youth development of which 6 months must be in a supervisory position.
- The McCormick Credential.
OR
Option 2: A combination of education and experience. Education: 24 semester hours in the majors stated above or a related field (see above), plus appropriate experience.
Experience: Candidate must also possess
all of the following:
- At least 12 months experience working in group programs with children/youth
- As well as demonstrated knowledge in theories and principals of child growth/youth development of which 12 months must be in a supervisory position.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
- Knowledge & experience with Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
- Familiarity with Army and CYS policies and regulations, to include standard operating procedures (SOPs), fee policies and behavior management guidelines.
- Familiarity with Army inspection processes and requirements.
- Experience with various supervisory administrative tasks to include: Using Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) or equivalent large-scale records and reporting system; Devising and implementing an employee schedule; Payroll processing to include entering and approving time in EPay or equivalent payroll database.
This experience must be clearly listed on your resume to be considered for Highly Preferred status.
Applicants meeting the highly preferred criteria position will be referred first to the Selecting Official. All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection.
Education
Proof of education is required at the time of application. Note: Education must be directly related to the position to be filled. General Education courses do not count toward the credit total.
All higher education diplomas must specify major course of study. Transcripts are to be provided if your diploma does not meet the requirement. To be considered, transcripts must be in English, legible, show all courses taken, and reflect the name of the school as well as the name of the applicant. Failure to do so may result in an ineligible status.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

- This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
