Duties

  • Serve as an Instructor for the SKIES Unlimited program. Develop lesson plans - curriculum including objective, skills median, supply list and indicate learning objectives of each session following Red Cross swim safe and Army CYS standards.
  • Provide instruction using a variety of techniques and interventions based on the age, skill level and learning style of each child.
  • Provide recommendations in scheduling, class offerings (following ratios) and equipment/materials purchase to supervisor.
  • Comply with work schedule established by supervisor, to include regular office hours as well as teaching schedule.
  • Maintains control of and accounts for the participant's safety. Keep attendance to date by checking roll at the beginning of every class session. Check phone and email addresses to ensure Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) is current.
  • Demonstrate MWR Customer Service elements when working with parents, students, coworkers and supervisors. Complete all Army, MWR and CYS training requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/physical/background requirements for this position.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
  • Successful completion of annual training requirements within the prescribed time frame and demonstrated on the job competence is required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

1. Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
2. Be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal).
3. Be 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
4. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, walk, bend, stoop and stand on a routine basis. Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
5. Possess and maintain health and freedom from communicable disease.
6. Demonstrated skill/evidence of competence in instructional area of swim instructor experience.

Highly Preferred- are candidates who possess a Professional Certificates/Credentials; or Associates Degree or higher with 15 semester hours of college credit in the area of swim instructing.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
