There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Carpentry Worker (Motor Vehicle Operator) (Direct Hiring Authority) ~ without more than normal supervision to include constructing items such as wood structures, select lumber, make cuts in accordance with blueprints, drawings or sketches; use hand and power tools such as power saws, nail guns, power sanders, and routers. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort-The incumbent works on ladders and scaffolds which require working in cramped or awkward positions. Considerable standing, stooping, bending and arm movement is required, depending on work assigned, may lift and carry items that weigh about 45 pounds.
- Working Conditions-Work is performed both inside and outside and in varied climatic conditions. The incumbent is subject to cuts and bruises, rails from ladders/scaffolds, loud noises, dust, dirt, injury from flying splinters and chips and from lifting heavy pieces of lumber or equipment. The use of protective devices reduces the danger from cited conditions.
