Specialized Experience for GS-07:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and Geographic information System (GIS) to assist in the conversion of survey data, and coordination of specific phases of assigned projects, from preliminary planning through completion of the product. in accordance with accepted standards required to produce MicroStation, Civil 3D, and GIS products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR
Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as cartography,astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing..
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for GS-08:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes using Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and Geographic information System (GIS) software, file transfer protocols, and data archiving to perform both automated and manual digitizing and conversion of raw data into cartographic and/or GIS database in accordance with accepted standards required to produce MicroStation, Civil 3D, and GIS products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography,and remote sensing.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for GS-09:
One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and Geographic information System (GIS) software in the conversion of survey data, file transfer protocols, and data archiving in the application of cartographic principles, map design and production methods to process digital cartographic data and graphic products for inclusion into a cartographic and/or GIS database in accordance with accepted standards required to produce MicroStation, Civil 3D, and GIS products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, at the GS 09 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Specialized Experience for GS-10:
One year of specialized experience which includes applying Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and Geographic information System (GIS) software in the conversion of survey data; the independent development of maps and drawings where operations include all phases of preliminary to final details associated with proportioning, size, shape, adjusting, positioning, planning details, extraction, and interpolation in accordance with accepted standards required to produce MicroStation, Civil 3D, and GIS products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, at the GS 10 level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Specialized Experience for GS-11:
One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) and Geographic information System (GIS) software in the independent conversion of survey data; and the independent development of maps, drawings, and other graphics associated with cartographic data in accordance with accepted standards required to produce MicroStation, Civil 3D, and GIS products. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
