Summary

This position is assigned to the Administrative Branch of the Fleet Readiness Division, of Fleet and Family Readiness Program (FFR), at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island. The purpose of this position is to provide various cashiering and clerical duties to safeguard cash and financial transactions of program activities.

Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Receives and verifies daily cash receipts.
  • Receives check, credit card charges, and refund receipts and prepares them for deposit.
  • Identifies, investigates, and assists in correcting discrepancies.
  • Verifies proper identification before making disbursements.
  • Travels to program facilities to collect daily receipts.
  • Travels to the banking facility to deposit receipts.
  • Enters data into the designated automated accounting system.
  • Maintains files and records storage as required.
  • Provides other office clerical duties as directed.
  • Provides accurate, courteous, and timely responses to management and customers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment

  • Work is primarily in a sedentary role with long periods of sitting when verifying receipts. Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
  • Work is normally performed in an office setting with adequate light, heat and ventilation. Driving under various weather conditions is required to transport funds.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • The incumbent must pass all applicable records and background checks.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
  • Hours of work will vary as required by the needs of the program to include split days off, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRNW Installations.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate possesses the following:
  • Six months' experience as a cash clerk, teller, central cashier, or similar cash handling experience.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and cash handling procedures.
  • Skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide accurately.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Ability to learn and operate standard office equipment such as calculator, ten-key, copier and computers.
  • Ability to organize and maintain files.
  • Ability to provide service with a positive, helpful attitude and demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively work as a team member.

Education

A qualified candidate possesses the following:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
