About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Certified Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the Phoenix VA Healthcare System. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out a diverse range of pharmacy duties with autonomy and independent judgment. Your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

• Stocking, delivering, and managing inventory
• Conducting inspections, assembling ward orders, and prescription assembly
• Distributing controlled substances and performing sterile compounding, including hazardous drugs
• Working primarily in the Outpatient Pharmacy with expanded distributive and higher complexity assignments

Primary Responsibilities

• Interpreting, filling, and preparing prescriptions for pharmacist verification
• Maintaining clean and orderly work areas, ensuring appropriate storage and security of drugs and supplies
• Utilizing automated dispensing equipment and ensuring adherence to safety and QA procedures
• Performing monthly inspections and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
• Compounding and/or reconstituting oral or external non-sterile medications

Schedule and Location Details

Schedule: Full-Time

Virtual: This is not a virtual position.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
• High school diploma or equivalent; or at least 3 months of pharmacy technician experience
• National Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT required
• One year of experience at the GS-6 level or equivalent
• Ability to resolve pharmacy/medication issues, train others, and use pharmacy systems
• Must pass a pre-employment physical examination
• Participation in seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination programs is required
