The United States Space Force (USSF) at Kirtland Air Force Base, NM is searching for a Chief for Management Support and Human Resources, SYD 89 (NH-0301-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

In this role, you will be the cornerstone of our Management Operations Division, providing expert guidance on all aspects of civilian and military personnel management, long-range manpower planning, and workforce development. Your daily mission will involve leading and mentoring your team, setting priorities to meet customer needs, and serving as the primary advisor to senior leadership on complex HR and organizational issues. You will drive the strategy for recruitment, development, and retention, oversee the command's acquisition training program (APDP), and build effective relationships across the organization to ensure our team is resourced and ready to deliver the future of space power.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with a strong background in Federal Human Resources and Manpower management. You have proven experience as a supervisor, with a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop a team of specialists. Your background should include a practical knowledge of federal personnel statutes, safety and security regulations, and management principles necessary to direct the functions of a small to medium-sized organization. We are looking for an exceptional communicator who can effectively liaise with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders. Experience with the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and overseeing an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) is highly desirable. An active or eligibility for a Secret security clearance is required.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of management principles of the management operations division.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.
4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
5. Practical knowledge and understanding of federal statutes and guidelines governing manpower, military and civilian personnel management and administration.
6. Knowledge of Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) policies and procedures.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.

- Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- PCS / relocation funding is authorized.
