The United States Space Force (USSF) at the Pentagon is searching for a Chief for Military Promotion Policy Chief to support S1PP (NH-0201-04, GS-14/15 equivalent).
Description:
This position will serve as the Chief, Promotions Policy as lead HR Specialist for Military Promotion Policy, implementing military personnel policy encompassing all USSF military promotions, officer and enlisted, all status of service, promotion policy and programs and how each impacts other policy management portfolios, particularly assignments. The ideal candidate must be well-versed to support a wide variety of military HR functions including policy development, publication writing, strategic communications, and the planning and implementation of the Space Force Personnel Management Act - a revolutionary way to manage full and part-time talent under a single personnel management system. This position affords the opportunity to collaborate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders across the Space Force, the Department of the Air Force, and the Department of Defense, advise on future SF policy, and regularly communicate with and provide recommended courses of action to the USSF Chief of Human Capital (CHCO), a Tier 3 SES, the Chief Master Sergeant of the Space Force, the Vice Chief of Space Operations, and the Chief of Space Operations, providing technical expertise, and advocacy for programs used to ensure proper development and management of officer and enlisted personnel. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future of Space Force and be on the ground level to support the building of the newest branch of the military!
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this position will be a detail-oriented, self-starter with experience developing, implementing, and interpreting military personnel policy related to military promotions (officer and enlisted) matters, promotion selection board procedures, developmental processes, and personnel utilization. An ideal candidate will also have knowledge of the full spectrum of force management, military personnel functions, and policy encompassing standards for promotions, assignments, and status, participation policy and programs, readiness, joint matters and how each impacts the other policy management portfolios. Must have experience developing, implementing, and interpreting military personnel policy.
The ideal candidate must be extremely organized, work well independently and with teams, be skilled in senior leadership engagements and support, with the ability to reach solutions in ambiguous circumstances. Additionally, the ideal candidate must be a quick learner, be process improvement oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, TMT knowledge, and demonstrate outstanding communication. The candidate must be a strong collaborator, skilled in developing, interpreting and implementing policy and law and provide timely, accurate, and impactful recommendations. A sharp team player that can learn to anticipate the needs of the executive and team supported, ensuring leadership is well-prepared to make decisions on military force management matters. Must be skilled in developing, interpreting and implementing policy and law. Experience preparing material for, briefing and providing recommended courses of action to General Officers and/or Senior Executive leadership.
