Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles SFB, El Segundo CA is searching for a Chief for Personnel Systems Management Section to support 61FSS/FSP (NH-0301-02, GS-05/11 equivalent).

Description:
The Military Personnel Flight is actively seeking a highly motivated, independent computer systems expert to step into a foundational role supporting the first generation of U.S. Space Force Guardians. Ideal Candidate:
Ideal candidate will possess a background in Human Resources with strong communication skills and the ability to manage end user accounts for Military Modernization computer systems. Candidate will also posses the ability to provide technical support and advisory services for the Military Modern Personnel Data System to support local requirements. Have the ability to prepare, coordinate, and implement local procedures for system operations. Be the focal point for assigned reserve personnel for Space Base Delta 3, and provide support as required in coordination with Reserve Integrated Office. Perform Military Personnel Flight functions which may include activities involved in administering systems for and monitoring practices related to, in-service status intitlements, performance evaluations, retirements and separations, Case Management System, in-processing, out-processing, administrative orders, reenlistments, extensions, assignment notifications, promotionss, and other Military Personnel Flight functions as required.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Knowledge of the principles, concepts, techniques, standards, processes, and guides of personnel management and ability to relate to personnel systems.
2. Knowledge of automated data processing functions, techniques, and capabilities including UNIX operating system, Structured Query Language (SQL), microcomputer operation, and the network operating system.
3. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions relating to work.
4. Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluate methods to accurately assess information and make sound decisions.
5. Ability to use and maintain a computer system, equipment, and software.

  • Must be a U.S Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
  • This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
  • Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
  • PCS / relocation funding is not authorized.
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
  • May assist in a variety of program areas as required, to include Awards and Decorations, Military or Civilian Training, and UPRG Management.
