Summary

About the Position:

  • This position is located at Irwin Army Community Hospital located in Fort Riley Kansas.
  • This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
  • Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.
  • A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.
  • Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.

Duties

  • Serve as a Defense Civilian Payroll System Customer Service Representative.
  • Provide payroll liaison activities.
  • Conduct special studies and works on projects.
  • Receive and analyze problems relating to automated pay applications.
  • Review, verify, and process a variety of payroll and time and attendance data.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This is a DoD Financial Management position. The incumbent must complete training and meet position requirements for certification at Level 1 within 2 years of appointment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience at the GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes experience working with timecards and managing them for an organization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Budget Administration, Accounting, Finance, Business Management and Public Administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Specialized Experience at the GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes experience working with timecards, managing them for an organization and reviewing for accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Budget Administration, Accounting, Finance, Business Management and Public Administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Specialized Experience at the GS-08: One year of specialized experience which includes experience working with timecards; managing, reviewing them for accuracy for an organization, and running audit reports and tracking trends. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: One and a half years of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Budget Administration, Accounting, Finance, Business Management and Public Administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond one year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.

Duties described reflect the full performance GS-08 level. If not selected at the full performance, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under close supervision.
