Join Our Team as a Clinical Dietitian
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Dietitian to become a key member of our healthcare team, providing expert nutritional guidance to Veterans. You will be responsible for planning, developing, and directing all nutritional care activities for patients across various inpatient and outpatient care settings. Your work will support the facility's mission and involve close coordination with other healthcare providers, caregivers, and community resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments and develop individualized Medical Nutrition Therapy plans.
- Perform Nutrition Focused Physical Exams to evaluate malnutrition risks and tailor diet prescriptions.
- Calculate nutrient requirements and diet restrictions, considering factors like medical conditions and cultural practices.
- Use evidence-based guidelines to create shared goals and a focused care plan for each patient.
- Support food service operations to ensure patient satisfaction and integrate health initiatives.
- Educate patients and their families, using tools like motivational interviewing and virtual care technology.
- Provide follow-up nutrition counseling and collaborate with other providers for comprehensive care.
- Act as a preceptor for dietetic interns and participate in community education projects.
Work Schedule
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexible hours and occasional weekend rotations.
Telework
Available 1-2 times per pay period.
Qualifications
- United States Citizenship.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) credential.
- Bachelor's or higher degree in dietetics or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Experience in nutrition support and transitional care is preferred.
- Compliance with vaccination requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (For GS-09/GS-11)
- Experience with the Nutrition Care Process (NCP).
- Ability to apply evidence-based nutrition practices.
- Skills in delivering patient-centered care and using virtual technology.
- Experience in data analysis for performance improvement.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
