Summary

This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). As a College Resident Assistant you will be responsible for providing assistance in the daily operations of the Residential Hall Program.

Duties

As a College Resident Assistant GS-0303-5, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Provide crisis intervention, and referral services to both internal and external agencies by implementing andcoordinating college emergency response activities in the residential facilities.
  • Assist in the assignment of rooms to students, matching roommates, making room changes, monitoring the capacity of residential halls, processing housing applications, and issuing keys and bedding supplies of students.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of varied educational programming for residential students and the larger college community aimed at enhancing students' cognitive, affective, and social development.
  • Monitor student activities to identify problems or potential problems.
  • Prepare and maintain administrative documents.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.

GS-5: 1-year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service that includes: having knowledge of residential life programs that include housing operations, room assignments, student safety and security; promote recreational activities and events; complete daily forms and logs.

OR

Successfully completed four (4) years of education above high school.

OR

Combination of education and experience: Successfully completed post-high school education; education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the 2nd year) is creditable towards the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
