The United States Space Force (USSF) in Hickam AFB, Hawaii is searching for a Command Lead Engineer for SPACEFOR-INDOPAC (NH-0801-04, GS-14/15 equivalent).
Description:
Come to sunny Hawaii to work on one of the most dynamic, growing teams in the Indo-Pacific theater! US Space Forces Indo-Pacific is looking for a command engineer to lead the way on many fronts in the most exciting theater/mission there is! The Command Lead Engineer will serve as the command's expert and principal advisor to the Component Commander for all engineering, facility management, and military construction (MILCON) and Facility Sustainment and Repair Projects (FSRM). The Lead Engineer is responsible for detailed planning and execution phases of critical infrastructure projects, including development plans and environmental assessments. A primary function is the collection of essential project data and the active coordination of on-site surveys. This groundwork is crucial for creating accurate project designs and ensuring compliance with all applicable standards. The Lead Engineer effectively builds requirements for SFI MILCON Projects and manages SFI contributions to the INDOPACOM Military Construction Pilot Program. The Lead Engineer helps SFI, Space Forces Korea (SFK), and Space Forces Japan (SFJ) to seamlessly integrate various phases of complex projects, from conception to completion. This requires proactively identifying potential and actual issues, then collaborating with stakeholders to find effective resolution. The Lead Engineer serves as the subject matter expert in a wide array of forums, including technical review meetings, planning workshops, and stakeholder conferences.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate has proven leadership skills and a strong background in facility engineering design principles to include military construction, infrastructure development, and project management. They have a firm understanding of the Department of the Air Force Installation and Mission Support enterprise and Space Force organizational constructs. They understand and can align with USINDOPACOM's strategic objectives and operational requirements to seamlessly integrate with J4 led working groups. They possess comprehensive knowledge of the Indo-Pacific region's political and military dynamics and are adept at building consensus among diverse stakeholders, including military personnel, government officials, and international partners.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Expert knowledge of engineering management planning policies, practices, regulations, and laws associated with complex construction programs and weapon system life-cycle management.
2. Expert skill in engineering management and leadership to develop and lead comprehensive project plans and ability to provide qualitative/quantitative assessments of projects to senior ranking officers and civilians.
3. Ability to exercise a high degree of rapid innovation and initiative and make independent and timely decisions for resolving program and resource challenges and sound policies and guidance.
4. Mastery of and skill in applying written and oral products to justify, defend, present, advocate and/or advise on sustainment or engineering processes, actions, directives and decisions impacting military operations.
5. Ability to persuasively interact with other senior management and engineering personnel from all branches of the military as well as government officials and host nation officials to negotiate major issues of importance.
6. Comprehensive knowledge of US Space Force mission and forces, including support and supporting Command relationships, Mission/Combat Delta structures and assigned forces. Knowledge of DoW, JCS and COCOM policies, functions and operations.

- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
- This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
- Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- PCS / Relocation funding is authorized.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 40 days per year.
- This position is part of the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
- This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of
employment.
- A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is highly desired.
