Summary
About the position: Is responsible for supporting all aspects of the Force Support Squadron Marketing & Publicity Office. This position is located at the Marketing and Publicity Office of the 35th Force Support Squadron, Misawa AB, Japan.
This is a Regular full time category position; guaranteed 35 - 40 hours per week.

Duties
- Works directly with activity managers to develop and execute marketing and promotional plans, programs, specials and events.
- Collects and disseminates information about FSS activities and events.
- Develops, designs, edits and updates a variety of digital marketing materials including but not limited to Facebook slides, TV slides, Instagram posts, email campaigns and digital signs.
- Edits and writes copy for publication in Force Support Squadron magazine, website, digital, print, radio broadcasts and social media platforms.
- Works directly with other base communication offices including Public Affairs and American Forces Network (AFN) to disseminate information.
- Provides first line customer service by answering telephones and receiving and reviewing work order requests from FSS facilities.
- Maintains and updates the Marketing & Publicity editorial calendar of events, work order system, after action reports and event files.
- Assists with designing printed materials such as flyers, posters, brochures and advertisements in support of the Graphic Designers using Adobe Creative Suite programs.
- Coordinates, organizes and disseminates materials for cross marketing and delivery of the Force Support Squadron magazine to subscribers and base kiosks.
- Maintains database of mailing and email lists.
- Assists with promotions, marketing research projects and special events as assigned. Uses digital camera(s) to capture photos of events, promotions, retail items and more.
- Assists Operations Clerk with print shop customers, taking and printing passport photos and using the cash register and credit card machine.
- May be required to work an irregular tour of duty. Performs other duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Qualifying Experience:
- Must be able to read, write and speak English and possess knowledge of written and oral communication as related to marketing, advertising and program and event promotion.
- Must possess strong writing skills and knowledge of journalistic styles.
- Must be able to work effectively with staff and customers while under the stress of short deadlines.
- Must possess knowledge in sales techniques and marketing trends including web, social media, print and email marketing.
- Ability to use PC and Mac computers, professional design and presentation software programs including Adobe Creative Suite is highly desired.
- Must be able to perform research, select, arrange and compose information and material.
- Working knowledge of the Force Support Squadron facilities, services, programs and policies is preferred.
Condition(s) of Employment:
- Must be able to successfully complete a physical to ensure performance of required duties.
- Employee must have a valid driver's license if required to operate a Government Motor Vehicle (GMV).
- Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment drug test.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 background check.
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
- To perform the duties of this position a CAC is required.
