Summary

This position is located in Defense Information Systems Agency, ACQ/SERVICES PEO (SD31).

Duties

  • Serves as the systems engineering architect in developing information architecture or modifications there to, or participates in the development of Department wide or Federal architectural policy, guidelines, frameworks and implementations for cloud.
  • Serves as organizational or ad hoc team leader.
  • Defines financial support requirements, proposed schedules, and management support needed.
  • Directs and performs complex in-depth system engineering trade off analyses among alternative technical strategies to achieve information management capabilities.
  • Provides advice and guidance on infrastructure architectural matters of such difficulty that leading experts disagree as to the proper approach to, or probable outcome of significant and far-reaching development efforts.
  • Conceives, initiates, and monitors policies, programs, and projects dealing with challenging problems in the speciality area.

  • The incumbent must also achieve 80 hours of Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) every two years in accordance with the 4th Estate Director for the time they are appointed to an Acquisition Workforce position.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

For the GG-854 and GG-855 Professional Engineering Series:
Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:

Specified academic courses

For the GG-1550 Computer Science Series:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.


Qualifying Experience:

For the GG-15, you must have at least one year of qualifying experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GG-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GG-14 if outside the Federal service, is required.

Qualifying experience is defined as Experience Developing, implementing and managing software development, acquisition, licensing, maintenance, databases, data management, software architecture, and IT architecture.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of knowledge, skills and abilities, or competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position.
