Conservation Engineer
Location: USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Washington
About the Role
Join us at the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service as a Conservation Engineer. In this role, you will provide vital engineering assistance to landowners, governmental units, and groups to implement and maintain conservation practices in Washington. You will conduct site evaluations, maintain construction inspection records, and ensure that the projects align with service policies and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting site evaluations to determine the need for engineering measures.
- Maintaining detailed construction inspection records.
- Ensuring compliance with service policy and standards.
- Performing design computations and preparing cost estimates.
- Determining field investigation and survey requirements based on site conditions.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following education and experience requirements:
For GS-07 Level:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in site evaluations and engineering design.
- OR one full year of graduate-level education in engineering (transcripts required).
- OR a combination of education and experience.
For GS-08 Level:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in complex engineering assessments and quality control inspections.
- OR a Master's degree or equivalent in engineering.
- OR a combination of education and experience.
For GS-09 Level:
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in technical support and design supervision.
- OR a Master's degree plus additional relevant education.
- OR a combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background investigation and fingerprint check.
- Fieldwork demands include physical exertion and exposure to weather conditions.
