You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-9 Level, you must have one year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes Interpreting plans and specifications of routine construction projects; inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with regulation and contractual requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
To qualify at the GS-10 Level you must have one year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes Interpreting plans and specifications of routine construction projects; inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with regulation and contractual requirements; reviewing contractor-submitted documents for accuracy and adequacy; providing input to project engineers toward solutions or courses of action observations made at project sites. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
To qualify at the GS-11 Level you must have one year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of engineering with primary responsibility for performing work in overseeing, managing, and inspecting construction work, which includes Interpreting plans and specifications of complex construction projects; inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with regulation and contractual requirements; performing a thorough reviews of contractor-submitted documents for accuracy and adequacy; providing input and recommended solutions to project engineers toward solutions or courses of action observations made at project sites; developing QA inspection requirements for upcoming projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
