In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. In accordance with the DoD Qualification Standard, the 1102 series has specific requirements for grades GS-05 through GS-13 grades. For the GS-12 you must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution authorized to grant baccalaureate degrees AND at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management. (This requirement can be obtained within the bachelor's degree or in addition to the degree.)**TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION**
- --OR--
- Current DoD employee, in any occupational series, and have served on or before September 30, 2000 in one of the following: 1) As a GS/equivalent 1102 position or Contracting officer position with authority to award or administer contracts above the SAT in any Federal agency --OR-- 2) As a Military member in comparable military occupational specialty.-
- -OR--
- One of the following exceptions: 1) An employee in the contingency contracting force and the educational requirement does not apply --OR-- 2) An individual appointed to a developmental position in a DoD approved Contracting Professional Developmental Program.
In addition to the education requirement, you must meet the required specialized experience:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Serve as senior
Contract Specialist for pre-award and post award functions including price cost/ analysis and/or negotiations AND 2) Prepare response to all contractual correspondence request for contract deviation from contract compliance AND 3) Prepare solicitation/amendment document for cost accounting standards, cost and/or cost pricing data.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
